Job summary

Albany Medical Center in New York is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join a busy general urology practice. You will evaluate, diagnose, and manage a broad range of urologic conditions in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule with 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. hours and potential four 10-hour days after onboarding. Responsibilities include in-office procedures, patient education, and coordination with Urology attendings.

Qualifications

• Active NYPA license and registration.
• Completion of an accredited PA program.
• Familiarity with Epic EMR is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage general urologic patients.
• See scheduled patients and same-day urgent add-ons for conditions like hematuria, UTIs, elevated PSA, kidney stones.
• Perform in-office procedures including testosterone and Eligard injections.
• Educate patients, conduct follow-ups, and manage medications.
• Collaborate with attending urologists, nursing and admin staff to ensure high-quality care.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and document in the EMR.
• Participate in quality improvement and practice efficiency initiatives.

Job description

The Department of Urology at Albany Medical College is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join our busy and collaborative general urology practice. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive outpatient urologic care in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Position Highlights:

• Full-time Monday-Friday schedule

• Clinic hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

  • Upon completion of onboarding and training, four 10-hour days may be available.

• Primary sites: South Clinical Campus (Albany) and Niskayuna

• Average 18-20 patients per day once fully trained

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide range of general urologic conditions

• See both scheduled patients and same-day urgent add-ons for concerns such as hematuria, urinary tract infections, elevated PSA, and kidney stones

• Perform in-office procedures, including testosterone and Eligard injections

• Conduct patient education, follow-up visits, and medication management

• Collaborate closely with attending urologists, nursing staff, and administrative support staff to ensure high-quality patient care

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including imaging and laboratory studies

• Document patient encounters and treatment plans accurately in the electronic health record

• Participate in quality improvement and practice efficiency initiatives

Qualifications:

• License and active registration as a physician assistant in New York State

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program

• Familiarity working in electronic medical records. Epic experience a plus.

• Collaborate effectively across various departments to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and a positive work environment.

• Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
