Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Newton-Wellesley Hospital is seeking a Part Time, 26-hour Rotating Shift Physician Assistant to join the inpatient surgical team. The PA will be supervised by the Chief of the service line and will participate in evaluations, treatment plans, and care coordination for patients in the inpatient setting.

The role covers a broad range of surgical specialties and includes bedside procedures, weekend/holiday rotation, some night shifts, and no on-call duties.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
• Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
• Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
• Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
• Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.

Job description

We are seeking a Part Time, 26-hour Rotating Shift Physician Assistant to join a growing inpatient surgical team at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Under the clinical supervision of the Chief of the service line, the PA oversees and participates in the care of patients in the inpatient setting. The Physician Assistant performs evaluations, coordinates and participates in treatment plans, monitors patient progress and documents patient care. This role will work with, but not limited to the following surgical specialties:

• Acute Care & General




• Plastic




• Colorectal




• Ear, Nose & Throat




• Thoracic




• Urology




• Vascular




• Breast




• Endocrine




• Bariatric




• Pediatric




• Gynecology

The PA will have the opportunity to participate in bedside procedures, though the position is not primarily operative. The schedule includes two shifts each week. The rotation is inclusive of weekends, holidays, and some night shifts. There is no call responsibility. This position is located on the NWH main campus at 2014 Washington Street, Newton, MA 02462.
