Job description

Position Overview

The Physician Assistant, Specialty (Orthopedic) is responsible for promoting and maintaining health by providing medical services under the supervision of a Market Clinical Director or other physician. The incumbent must function independently and collaboratively with other health care professionals, consult with leadership for compliance, and participate in risk, quality, and clinical meetings.

Essential Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Contribute to physician’s effectiveness by identifying short‑term and long‑range patient care issues, providing commentary, recommending actions and implementing physician directives.
  • Assess patient health by interviewing, performing physical examinations, obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
  • Determine abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests (x‑rays, laboratory studies), interpreting results.
  • Document patient care in chart and department records.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures: administer injections and immunizations, suturing, managing wounds and infections.
  • Instruct and counsel patients on therapeutic regimens, growth and development, family planning and emotional concerns; promote wellness and health maintenance.
  • Provide continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection‑control policies and protocols.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements, study legislation, advise management, enforce adherence.
  • Maintain professional knowledge through workshops, publications, professional societies.
  • Develop team staff through educational opportunities and experiential growth.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Orthopedic duties: identify and manage orthopedic patients, order imaging/tests, administer orthopedic‑specific interventions.

Education & Experience Requirements
  • Master’s Degree required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
  • DEA number for Schedule II‑V controlled substances may be required based on state.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working in an orthopedic practice.
  • Successful completion of a program accredited by the Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant.
  • Appropriate state licensure and certification.
Pay Range

$111,140 – $158,771 (base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary). Final compensation depends on experience, education, location and other factors; possible bonuses or commissions.
