Job summary

Stanford Health Care is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our team and deliver high quality patient care. You will evaluate patients, obtain histories, perform exams, order diagnostic tests, and coordinate inpatient and outpatient services under physician supervision.

In addition, you may assist in the operating room and participate in investigational studies as approved. The role requires PA licensure, BLS, and DEA registration, with a bachelor’s degree or higher and ARC-PA accredited PA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Graduate of a PA program accredited by the ARC-PA.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and treats patients with acute, chronic concerns and health maintenance issues related to specialty.
• Obtains histories and performs pertinent physical exams on new and returning patients.
• Performs or orders diagnostic studies as indicated after evaluation.
• Administers medications per formulary or supervising physician approval.
• Orders and collects routine laboratory tests and imaging as needed.
• Orders PT/OT/respiratory therapy, radiology and nursing services.
• Performs procedures after demonstrated competency and follows written procedures.
• Obtains informed consent and initiates hospital admissions/discharges paperwork.
• Enrols patients in IRB-approved investigational studies when appropriate.
• Assists in the operating room after training and acts as first/second assistant.
• Performs surgical procedures in the presence of supervising physician.
• Recognizes age-specific needs and communicates effectively with diverse patients and staff.
• Coordinates inpatient and outpatient care and collaborates with providers.
• Ensures compliance with policies and participates in quality improvement.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or above

Graduate of a PA program accredited by ARC-PA
