Job summary

Northwell Health in the Eastern Long Island region seeks a Physician Assistant with 6 months of experience to assist in patient admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. Per diem and/or long-term contracts are available for Bay Shore, Port Jefferson, Riverhead assignments.

Responsibilities include taking histories, initiating care plans, daily rounds, ordering tests, interpreting results, and coordinating with physicians and the care team to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree required.
  • Graduate of ARC-PA accredited PA program.
  • Current NYS license to practice as a Physician Assistant.
  • Current NCCPA certification.
  • Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations.
  • Implements, documents, and communicates the plan of care and follows up.
  • Performs daily patient rounds and orders medications, labs, and diagnostics.
  • Interprets laboratory and test results and coordinates with care team.
  • Notes discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals on patient charts.
  • Informs patients of post-discharge care instructions.

Job description

6 months experience, preferred. Open to per diem and/or long term contracts for assignments in the Eastern Long Island region: Bay Shore, Port Jefferson, Riverhead.

Performs a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for patient admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow up, and outcome evaluation. Participates in performance improvement, research, and educational activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations.
  • Initiates, documents, and communicates the plan of care and follows up to ensure complete
  • screening and preparation of patients.
  • Performs daily patient rounds.
  • Writes orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.
  • Interprets laboratory and test results.
  • Confers with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and/or other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.
  • Upon discharge, notes discharge summaries, prescriptions, and any referrals on patient charts.
  • Informs patients of the necessary post-discharge care instructions.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree, required.
  • Graduate of an accredited (Accreditation Review Committee for

  • Current NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), required.
  • Current BLS certification, required.
