Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Hospital Medicine team on a full-time basis. The role involves 3 x 12-hour shifts per week with rotating days and nights in a high-acuity academic medical center.

This position offers strong subspecialty exposure, a structured orientation, and 24/7/365 coverage support with a focus on collaborative care and professional development.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• Eligible or current Massachusetts license, with national certification (ANCC, AANP, NCCPA, as applicable).
• Massachusetts CS Registration and federal DEA Registration are required.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document complete history and physical exams.
• Develop diagnoses and treatment plans based on clinical evaluation.
• Order and interpret laboratory and imaging studies.
• Participate in daily inpatient rounds and document progress notes.
• Collaborate with consulting services and interdisciplinary teams.
• Perform routine bedside procedures per delineation of privileges.

Job description

Hiring Range: $129,819.98 - $185,000.00 (based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week). Please note that the final offer will vary based on scheduled hours. Compensation for part-time or reduced schedules will be prorated based on scheduled weekly hours, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Schedule: Full-Time (3 x 12-hour shifts/week; rotating days/nights)

Join one of the region's most dynamic Hospital Medicine teams in a high-acuity academic medical center offering broad subspecialty exposure and flexible scheduling. This Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will work (3) 12 hour shifts per week and will be cross trained to rotate through day and night roles with varying responsibilities including but not limited to admitting, rounding, floor cross coverage, rapid response team member.

Works closely with other Hospital Medicine APPs and Hospital Medicine Attendings during 24/7/365 coverage. Services we cover overnight include BMT, Neurosurgery, Urology as well as post procedural coverage for GI, Body IR, Vascular IR, ENT, and Ophthalmology

• Collaborative, team-based model with Hospital Medicine Attendings and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).
• 24/7/365 support with strong interdisciplinary collaboration, working (3) 12 hours shifts per week, with approximately 60% of shifts overnight.
• Epic EMR and integrated clinical systems
• A 13-week structured orientation program running concurrently with a 12-month mentor partnership , ensuring continuous guidance and support as you navigate the demands of your first year
• Robust subspecialty coverage across multiple disciplines, providing a broad foundation of clinical knowledge
• Membership on the Rapid Response Team , with hands-on experience managing acutely decompensating patients in collaboration with resident learners
• Ongoing educational and developmental opportunities at both the division and health system level, supporting continuous professional development
