Job summary

Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, part of the Optum family, seeks an Advanced Practice Clinician to join the nephrology team in the ambulatory setting in Texas. You will work with supervising physicians to manage kidney disorders and provide patient education.

The role emphasizes evidence-based care, timely responses, and adapting care to diverse patient populations. A Texas license, prescriptive authority, and DEA license are required, with nephrology experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice in Texas.
• MSN/Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Gerontic NP, or Physician Assistant with NCCPA certification.
• Current prescriptive authority.
• DEA license.
• BCLS and ACLS certification.
• At least 1 year nephrology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with supervising physician to manage kidney disorders in ambulatory care.
• Provide patient education and monitor inbasket tasks and MKO questions.
• Maintain timely communication with patients and adapt care to diverse populations.
• Review labs and coordinate follow-up after clinic visits.

Position Highlights:

• The APC will work collaboratively with the supervising physician to manage various conditions related to kidney disorders such as, but not limited to, chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, and electrolytes abnormalities in the ambulatory setting.
• Utilize evidence based medical practices in the delivery of all patient care.
• Patient education, maintenance of inbasket, timely response to patients' MKO questions.
• Maintains an attitude of inquiry towards medical practices and patient care outcomes.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Other related duties as required ie telephonic f/u with patients, review ordered labs after discharge from clinic

Required Qualifications:

• Licensed to practice in Texas.
• Masters' Degree in Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified for Family Nurse Practitioner. or Physician Assistant: NCCPA-Certified.
• Current prescriptive authority.
• DEA license
• BCLS, ACLS certified
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• At least 1 year nephrology experience preferred

Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $113,000 - $173,500. Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
