Job summary

OrthoCarolina Monroe is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide medical care under physician supervision in both office and hospital settings with an orthopedic focus.

Responsibilities include assisting in the OR, conducting exams, ordering tests, and performing ER and floor consultations. A NC PA license and NCCPA certification are required; orthopedic experience is a plus but not essential.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program.
  • Current NC PA license.
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Orthopedics experience preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience as a physician assistant preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the physician in the office and hospital settings.
  • Work in independent clinics seeing orthopedic patients.
  • Assist in the operating room as needed.
  • Perform emergency room and floor consultations.

We are currently searching for a Physician Assistant to work with one of our Providers at our OrthoCarolina Monroe office.

The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing medical care as delegated by OrthoCarolina physician(s).

Responsibilities may include:

  • assisting the physician in both the office and hospital setting
  • independent clinics seeing patients with a variety of orthopedic injuries and illnesses
  • assisting in the operating room as needed
  • performing emergency room and floor consultations
Essential Functions
  • Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons/staff.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.
  • Assesses, applies and/or removes a variety of orthopedic casts, splints, and immobilization devices.
  • Serves as assist-at-surgery for orthopedic procedures.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, applies appropriate codes and charges for service, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
  • Dictates patient records including discharge summaries, history and physical evaluations, operative procedure notes, consultations and office visit notes.
  • Documents patient information and care provided in patient record.
  • Uses computer to access/enter needed data.
  • Rounds on hospital inpatients as directed by supervising physician(s) to hospitals assigned and performs emergency room and floor consultations as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
  • Accurately evaluate patient problems in person or via phone and providing appropriate advice, intervention or referral.
  • Skill in evaluating and revising care plans based on patient changes.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program.
  • Current in the following: North Carolina PA license
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Prior experience in the field of orthopedics is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience as a physician assistant is preferred but not required.
