Inpatient Neurology Advanced Practice Provider (PA). Practice at the top of your license as an Inpatient Neurology Advanced Practice Provider at Robert Packer Hospital, Guthrie's flagship academic medical center. This role supports a growing neurology service within a collaborative, physician-led, integrated health system serving communities across northern Pennsylvania and upstate New York.

Highlights

This is an inpatient-focused Neurology PA role based at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. The PA will work alongside neurohospitalists, general neurologists, and multidisciplinary hospital teams to deliver high-quality, timely neurologic care. The position is designed to strengthen inpatient consult coverage, support stroke and general neurology services, and improve access across the system by optimizing APP deployment.

Position Responsibilities

• Daily inpatient rounding
• New consult evaluations
• Coordinate diagnostic testing and imaging, treatment and care planning, and discharge planning in collaboration with attending neurologists, hospitalists, nursing, therapy, and care management teams
• Perform comprehensive neurologic assessments, document care in the electronic medical record, educate patients and families, and contribute to quality and safety initiatives
• Procedural responsibilities may include lumbar puncture and other neurology-related procedures consistent with training, experience, credentialing, and privileging at Robert Packer Hospital

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

• Acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke
• Seizure disorders and epilepsy
• Encephalopathy and altered mental status
• Migraine and headache disorders
• Neuromuscular and general neurologic conditions

The role is primarily consult-based and inpatient, with no routine outpatient clinic sessions.

Schedule & Coverage Model

Inpatient hospital-based schedule with weekday coverage and shared weekend or holiday rotation based on service needs. No overnight call unless defined by the Neurology coverage model at Robert Packer Hospital.

Candidate Requirements

• Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care NP strongly preferred) or Physician Assistant
• Eligible for Pennsylvania licensure and national certification
• Inpatient neurology, neurohospitalist, critical care, or hospital medicine experience strongly preferred
• New graduates with strong inpatient or neuro-focused training will be considered
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and a collaborative, team-based approach to care
