PA Post-Graduate Fellowship in Critical Care- Rotating - West Campus Sphere (Columbia/Allen)

The PA fellow will participate in a 12-month training program designed to enhance skills and provide a comprehensive experience in adult critical care medicine, including medical, surgical, cardiothoracic, cardiac, and neurological critical care. Clinical responsibilities will include the acute management and resuscitation of a diverse population with the highest degree of medical complexity and severity in the country—a world-class experience for new graduates looking to bolster their clinical exposure with rigorous training and well-rounded education in various critical care settings, or, alternatively, a valuable opportunity for more seasoned providers who may be considering a transition to this field.

Regardless of the motivating factors, PA fellows can expect to complete this program equipped with the skills to manage patients of any acuity. In addition to core rotations, the curriculum will also include rotations dedicated to airway management in the ED and OR, as well as elective rotations in various other subspecialties. PA fellows will advance through the program with guidance and oversight provided by intensivists, physician fellows, resident physicians, and other PAs, with increasing levels of autonomy commensurate with their competence and level of advancement in the fellowship.

Curriculum
  • Program Length: 12 months
  • Class size: 2 PA fellows per year
  • Didactic (25%): including one week of orientation boot camp and additional protected time for lectures, simulation lab, journal club, grand rounds/M&M, professional certifications, and other educational conferences.
  • Clinical Rotations (75%): CCU, MICU, SICU, CTICU, Neuro ICU, Airway Management (OR/ED), 3 Elective rotations each x 2 weeks
  • Electives may include: ECMO, ED, Ethics, ICU Triage, ID, Nephrology, Palliative Care, Radiology, Stroke Consult, Ultrasound, Neonatal ICU

Eligibility for Admission:
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • NCCPA Board Certification (including new graduates who are PANCE eligible)
  • NYS License
  • Current BLS & ACLS Certifications

  • 3 letters of recommendation (for graduates < 2 years, must include a letter from program faculty member and a letter from a clinical preceptor)
