Job summary

Prisma Health in Greenville Memorial Hospital/Emergency Medicine seeks a Physician Assistant to support physicians in delivering quality treatment, referrals and follow-up care in a hospital setting. Under physician supervision, you will perform history taking, exams, order tests with approval, interpret results and participate in emergency care, with opportunities to contribute to policy and operations.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s in a PA program, NCCPA certification and SC

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant program from an accredited body (CAHEA/AMA/Association of Medical Colleges).
• No prior experience required.
• NCCPA certification and current PA licensure in SC; BLS.
• Knowledge of a wide range of conditions and strong communication skills.
• NCCPA CAQ in EM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs health histories, physical exams, individual and group health education.
• Orders diagnostic tests (labs, imaging) with physician approval.
• Interprets findings, formulates and carries out treatment plans, prescribes medications within scope.
• Refer complex cases to supervising physician as needed.
• Provide emergency care to prevent loss of life or limb.
• Support clinic function through policy development and operational improvements.

Job Summary

Works under the supervision of a physician to give quality treatment, referral and follow-up care in a medical or hospital setting.

Accountabilities

• Performs health histories, physical exams, individual and group health education. - 20%
• Orders diagnostic laboratory tests and radiological tests, including special testing such as CTs, MRIs, ultrasound, and contrast studies with physician approval. - 20%
• Interprets physical findings, lab and x-ray results, makes diagnoses, and formulates and carries out treatment plan, prescribing medication in accordance to state licensing laws. - 20%
• Refers cases to immediate supervising physician when patient conditions are complicated, exceed the Physician Assistant's limit of care or level of training. - 20%
• Provides emergency care to prevent the loss of life, limb or eyesight. Institutes emergency procedures in accordance with level of training. - 10%
• Supports clinic function by participating in policy development, operational improvement and the implementation of policies and improvements. - 10%

Minimum Qualifications

• Education - Bachelor's degree in a Physician Assistant program approved by an accredited medical body such as CAHEA, American Medical Association or the Association of Medical College.
• Experience - No previous experience required

Required Licensures

• NCCPA certification and current Physician Assistant licensure in the state in which the team member is working.
• BLS

Other Required Skills/Knowledge

• Knowledge of a wide variety of medical conditions/diseases/types of injuries; excellent communication skills.
• National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Certificate of Added Qualification in Emergency Medicine - NCCPA CAQ in EM - Preferred
