Job summary

Island Doctors is seeking a physician assistant to provide and manage direct patient care, including exams, evaluations, and treatments within established policies.

You will perform procedures such as I&D, splinting, suturing, and wound care, develop care plans, and coordinate with specialists to ensure continuity of care. Strong communication with patients about results and follow-up is essential.

Qualifications

• Successful completion from an approved physician assistant program.
• Current and unrestricted PA license in the State of Florida required.
• Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
• DEA license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide and manage direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment.
• Perform therapeutic procedures such as I&D, splinting, suturing, managing infection, and wound care; document patient information.
• Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist continuity of care; communicate results and follow-up information; prescribe medications as appropriate; refer to specialists as needed.
• Follows established policies and referral practices; orders diagnostic tests and interprets results.
• Orients and trains new practitioners when necessary; directs and coordinates nursing staff activities; participates in in-services and clinic operations.
