The successful candidate will bring 3–5 years in urgent care or family medicine, completion of an accredited PA program, and WA licensure or ARNP credentials, plus BLS.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of Urgent Care/Walk In Clinic or Family Medicine experience with some clinical independence.
  • Completion of an approved Physician Assistant program.
  • Active Washington State PA License or ARNP license or ability to obtain one.
  • BLS certification.
  • Ability to maintain licensure and required continuing education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient treatment through diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Order labs and diagnostic imaging to support treatment plans.
  • Consult by telephone with patients and other providers.
  • Document visits, plans and communications accurately and timely.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and meetings.
  • Interact professionally with Administration, Directors, Managers and staff.

  • Location: Anacortes, WA, Onsite
  • Schedule: Full Time / Variable
    • Four day work week
    • Urgent Care/Walk In Clinic shifts will include rotating weekend shifts
  • Salary: $141,275 - $155,403 – DOE
  • Potential Sign‑on Bonus: $5,000
  • Other Possible Benefits:

Responsibilities
  • Provides patient treatment through establishing diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Orders appropriate labs, diagnostic imaging, and completes processes to facilitate patient treatment plans.
  • Consult by telephone with patients and other health care providers.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient visits, plans and communications.
  • Participate fully in quality assurance activities and measures.
  • Participate fully in scheduled provider meetings, other meetings and/or projects as assigned.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to interact positively with Administration, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, peers, co‑workers, subordinates, patients and visitors.
  • Function at all times within Island Hospital’s guidelines for HIPAA compliance and confidentiality requirements.
  • Must have regular attendance standard and must stay at or below average sick leave utilization levels.
  • This position makes decisions about the assessment and diagnosis of health issues; conducts physical exams; orders appropriate laboratory and other diagnostic tests; develops and implements treatment plans for acute and chronic illnesses; prescribes appropriate medications; monitors patient status; educates and counsels patients and their families.
  • Decisions referred to a higher authority include second opinions for surgery; management of complex patients; and evaluation and treatment of infertility.
  • Decisions dictated by policy or procedure include certain drug regimens which are dictated by formulary; breast exam guidelines; abnormal PAP smear follow‑up and well‑adult care guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and the experience/skills to identify each patient's treatment plan relative to his/her age‑specific needs.
  • Ability to navigate EMR to document patient information.

  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of evidence‑based therapeutic modalities (CBT, DBT, trauma‑informed care, etc.).
  • Crisis assessment and intervention expertise.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records.
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively.
Qualifications
