Job summary

Palm Careers is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant for a full-scope role in rural South Dakota. This position covers inpatient and outpatient duties in Cardiac, Thoracic, and Vascular surgery, including complex cases and perioperative care.

The ideal candidate will serve as a first assistant in the OR, manage postoperative ICU and clinic duties, and collaborate with a diverse team to advance patient care in a peaceful, outdoor-focused setting. Locum-to-perm is available.

Qualifications

• Licensed Physician Assistant with cardiac/thoracic surgery experience.
• Proven ability to function as first assistant in the OR.
• Experience with perioperative ICU and postoperative care.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient duties as first assistant covering cardiac, thoracic, and vascular cases.
• Outpatient duties include pre/postoperative clinic management and surveillance.

We are hiring an experienced Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant to work full scope! Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery & CVICU, Full Scope Opportunity!

Rural Location in South Dakota – Unique Opportunity and peaceful location! If you like to hike, fish, outdoorsy activities this is the perfect contract or permanent home for you!

We are considering Locum, Perm and Locum to Perm Candidate Interest! Open to 6-12 month contract lengths with an opportunity to extend!

Inpatient duties include:

Function as a first assistant in the OR covering a breadth of cases in Cardiac, Thoracic, and Vascular surgeries which include, but are not limited to: CABG, AVR, MVR, MV repair, Bentall, Aortic Root work, Aortic Dissections, Convergent, MAZE, PVI, Thoracotomies, VATS, Lobectomies, Fem-pop, Ax-fem-fem, AAA, aneurysm repair, fistula creation, and thoracic traumas. Endoscopic and Open Vessel Harvest

Performed consultations and routine postoperative ICU and floor management of postoperative patients from the perioperative phase through discharge. Unique opportunity to grown professionally and clinically by advancing my experience with a diverse group of patients.

Mentored monthly Medical Students to our service and supporting their clinical rotations in our full-scope service setting.

Outpatient duties include:

Pre and postoperative clinic management, Aortic Aneurysm Surveillance, I & D and routine management of post operative wound management
