MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center in Fountain Valley, CA, seeks an experienced, board-certified Physician Assistant to join its Cardiothoracic Surgery team. The PA will work under supervision in the OR as first assistant and contribute to peri-operative care and vascular procedures.

Candidates should have 1+ year first-assist in cardiac surgery, California license or eligibility, ACLS, DEA, and Epic EMR experience; fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery is a plus.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of first assist experience in a cardiac surgery setting.
• 1+ year of vein harvesting experience.
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Must have NCCPA Board Certification.
• California medical license (or eligible to obtain).
• Prior experience with Epic EMR is helpful.
• ACLS certification.
• DEA
• Fellowship training in cardiothoracic surgery is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Assist the supervising surgeon in the operating room as first assistant.
• Perform patient histories and daily rounds; manage peri-operative care.
• Involve in invasive surgical procedures, including vascular tissue retrieval during bypass surgeries.
• Provide post-operative care in acute care units and floors; participate in aortic clinic and endovascular vein harvesting.

MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Instituteis seeking to add an experienced, board-certified Physician Assistant (PA) to its cardiovascular surgery team at MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center in beautiful southern California (Fountain Valley - Orange County). The selected PA will be employed by MemorialCare Medical Group, a for-profit multi-specialty group practice affiliated with MemorialCare Medical Foundation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• The PA-Cardiac Surgery assists the supervising surgeon in the operating room, but also plays an integral role in the global management of patients undergoing cardiothoracic, vascular, or aortic surgery.
• Includes all aspects of peri-operative care from performing patient histories and daily rounds to invasive surgical procedures, including the critical retrieval of vascular tissue in coronary bypass procedures
• Competitive candidates must have extensive knowledge of artificial cardiac devices, ventilators and the pharmacologic effects of vasoactive/cardiotonic drugs
• The PA also provides patient care expertise in the postoperative acute care units, step-down units and regular floors
• First assist in the O.R., participate in aortic clinic, endovascular vein harvesting
• Be part of one of the larger programs on the west coast for comprehensive aortic diagnosis and treatment
