Job summary

University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Physician Assistant for the Bipolar Disorder Center at UT Health Austin. The role is based on the UT Main Campus in Austin, TX, with a full-time schedule and immediate start date.

The PA will perform psychiatric assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide evidence-based psychotherapy while coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team. Requires PA-C or APRN, DEA license, and bipolar disorder experience, with Athena EMR proficiency.

Qualifications

Board-certified PA or APRN with Texas RN license.
DEA license (or ability to obtain).
CPR and advanced life-support (ACLS/PALS/NRP) as applicable.
Master's or Doctorate degree in nursing or PA program.
Minimum of one year bipolar disorder care experience.
Proficiency with Athena EMR.
Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Perform psychiatric assessment and diagnosis of adults and transition-age youth with bipolar disorder.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and medications per guidelines.
Provide evidence-based psychotherapy (IPSRT, CBT, MBCT, etc.).
Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team and community resources.
Participate in clinical research and quality improvement.
Document encounters in EMR with accuracy and confidentiality.
Support operational management of the center (staff training, scheduling, budget).
Lead or participate in patient education and support groups.
Monitor continuity of care and triage patient communications.
