A Public/Community Health Physician Assistant (PA) plays a vital role in improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities. This position involves providing clinical care, preventive healthcare services, health education, and community outreach to address public health issues and promote overall wellness.

Examples of Work Performed

• Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including physical examinations and medical histories.
• Diagnose and treat common medical conditions and chronic illnesses.
• Prescribe medications and treatments as necessary.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to deliver quality patient care.
• Administer vaccinations and immunizations to individuals of all ages.
• Provide health screenings, including blood pressure checks, cholesterol screenings, and cancer screenings.
• Develop and implement preventive care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Educate patients and community members on disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and health promotion.

• Knowledge to utilize independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and provision of ongoing care to ambulatory patients that is in accordance with Physician Assistant licensure regulations for the state of Washington.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others. Exhibits respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines and uses an integrated approach to achieve desired patient outcomes.
• Ability to use evidence-based standards, guidelines, and protocols to the delivery of patient care. Incorporates new information and approaches, when appropriate, to continuously improve patient care and practice.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be a Physician Assistant credentialed from Washington State.
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
