SUMMARY.Under the supervision of the physician, provides direct medical care to the patient, instruction to nursing staff and unlicensed personnel, and education to the patient, instruction to nursing staff and unlicensed personnel, and education to the patientRESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESObtains, evaluates, and records medical historiesPerforms physical examinationsOrders necessary testing for routine and acute health care evaluationsCollects specimens, when necessary, for pathologic examinationsAnalyzes and interprets data, formulates problem lists, and establishes appropriate plans for the management of clinical problemsInitiates necessary consults to specialists and other health care professionalsCounsels and educates patients on health-related mattersProvide management for acute and chronic illnessesPrescribes necessary medications, as authorized by law.Provides consultative services to the Health Services Administrator and designees on patient health-related issuesAll other duties as assignedEducation and ExperienceMaster’s Degree from an accredited institution requiredGraduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program requiredCurrent, valid Physician Assistant licensure in the applicable state requiredMust meet all state and regulatory requirements governing the practice of a Physician AssistantPrior clinical experience in a primary care, specialty, or institutional healthcare setting preferredPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
