Job summary

Barnabas Health Medical Group in New Jersey is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the NBI Bariatric Program on a day shift. The PA will manage health problems, coordinate care, and assist in bariatric surgery for the department.

The successful candidate must hold a NJ PA license, a valid DEA, and current BLS and ACLS certifications. Perioperative care and collaboration with physicians and health teams are essential to ensure MBSAQIP compliance.

Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients, family members, and care teams to gather histories and develop treatment plans.
• Obtain complete patient histories, review records, perform physical exams, and document medical status and plans.
• Maintain current licensure and continuing medical education credits as required by New Jersey State Law.
• Communicate treatment progress with the care team and supervise perioperative care.
• Assist with surgical cases in the operating room and prescribe medications as appropriate.
• Refer patients to licensed physicians when condition or circumstances warrant.

Job Overview:

The Physician Assistant will be responsible for managing health problems, coordinating health care, and assisting in surgery for Dept, of Bariatrics patients,

The successful candidate will function in full compliance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care,

Perioperative preparation and postoperative clinical management will be conducted in collaboration with the attending physician and other health care professionals,

They will assist in the development of the center and the accreditation process, and ensure continuous compliance with MBSAQIP requirements,

Required Licenses:

Valid license/certificate as a Physician Assistant in the State of NJ

DEA License

Possess a current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)

Possess a current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Job Responsibilities:

Interacts on a frequent, regular and daily basis with patients, family members, medical/social/public services support, regulatory agencies and/or payor agencies

Interaction and communication requires expressed empathy, understanding, problem-solving, education, information gathering, process influencing and counseling

Obtain complete, detailed and accurate patient histories, review patient records, perform physical exams, and record all pertinent data to develop comprehensive medical status, diagnosis and clinical treatment plan for all assigned patients

Maintains current licensure and continuing medical education credits as required by New Jersey State Law

Communicates treatment / therapy progress with individuals who have the responsibility or control in patient care intervention

Assists with surgical cases in the OR

Prescribe medication, write orders, perform procedures and respond to emergency and/or immediate condition changes of acute, critically ill patients

Refers patients to appropriate licensed physician or other health care provider as condition or circumstances warrant,
