Job summary

The Kansas City Orthopedic Alliance is seeking a licensed Physician Assistant to support orthopedic patient care in a busy clinic and hospital setting.

You will perform exams, develop treatment plans, assist in surgery, and coordinate patient care across teams, with emphasis on compassionate service and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Licensed to practice in Kansas and/or Missouri or willingness to become licensed in both states.
  • Maintain National certification as required by governing body.
  • Current CPR/BLS certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive and problem-focused history and physical exams with interpretation of data.
  • Formulate differential diagnoses and working diagnoses; develop treatment plans within scope.
  • Assist in orthopedic surgeries and provide perioperative care as delegated by surgeon.
  • Document patient information accurately in medical records and coordinate care with the care team.
  • Conduct rounds, write orders, and participate in hospitalization-related decision making.

This team is greater than the sum of its parts, but each individual’s contribution will lead to the ultimate success of our company.Essential Responsibilities:Performing comprehensive and problem-focused history and physical exams, interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.Interpret and correlate subjective and objective data to formulate a differential diagnose and establish a working diagnosis.Formulate a treatment plan for Orthopedic problems within scope of practice. Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate.Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising Orthopedic surgeon or other health care professionals.Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including but not limited to joint and bursa aspirations, closed reduction of fractures and dislocations, injections of joints, tendons, trigger points and bursa, as well as brace, cast and splint applications.Documents patient information and care in medical record in a timely manner.Operates/utilizes medical instruments required for physical exams and surgical assistance as well as computer hardware/software.Order, collect, and perform appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures, and studies including but not limited to blood and tissue specimens.Ordering or performing diagnostic studies such as but not limited to EMG, x-ray examinations, CT, MRI, and bone scans etc.Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer Medication, orthosis, orthotics, braces and other Orthopedic devices as may be allowed by state legislation.Monitors therapies and provides continuity of care. Develops/revises patient care plans based on patient status and after consulting with their physician partner(s).May conduct hospital rounds, write orders, and take call for the Orthopedic surgeon. Evaluate and clarify clinical conditions, formulate and implement a treatment or therapeutic plan for hospitalized patients, dictate discharge summaries, histories and physicals.Additional Responsibilities:Gathers and analyzes physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data.Accurately evaluates patient problems in person or via phone and provides appropriate advice, intervention, or referral.Counsels patient/family on preventive health care.May assist in surgery to include but not limited to first assist, deep and superficial tissue closures, application of appliances and any other action delegated by the surgeon.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of accredited physician assistant program.Licensed and certification from your respective governing body to practice in Kansas and/or Missouri or a willingness to become licensed in both states.Maintain National certification from respective governing body.Maintain CME requirements as dictated by respective governing body.Current CPR/BLS certificate.Essential Physical Demands:Inability to meet one or more of these physical and/or mental requirements will not automatically disqualify a candidate, or employee from the position.
