Job summary

Lakeshore Bone & Joint is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our busy orthopedic practice in Northwest Indiana. The PA will work in clinic and as a surgical first assist, focusing on sports medicine, joint replacement and general orthopedics with travel between Lakeshore facilities.

Candidate will collaborate with an orthopedic surgeon and clinical team; experienced PAs and new graduates are welcome. This is a full-time position with competitive compensation and benefits.

LBJI is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our busy, well-established orthopedic practice in Northwest Indiana. The position will focus primarily on sports medicine, joint replacement, and general orthopedics, with a combination of clinic, surgical assisting, and patient care.

Job Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) will work as a surgical first assist as well as work alongside the orthopedic surgeon in clinic. They may be responsible for consulting on patients within our hospital systems, provide medical care, medication management, and care coordination for patients with chronic or acute injuries.

Essential Job Functions

Obtain patient history and perform assessments via observation and examination

• Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
• Order, perform and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests as needed
• Implement interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability
• Asses and revise care plans based on physician recommendations and patient changes
• Consult with other staff regarding referrals, follow‑ups, and transfer of care
• Educate patient and family by providing educational tools and resources to aid in decision making

• Participate in professional development activities and attend seminars as needed
• Exercise initiative, judgement, discretion, and decision making to achieve medical objectives
• Assist physician in orthopedic surgery
• Conducts rounds at hospitals on ER and post‑operative patients as directed by physician
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, and to work both day/evening shifts. Work may hand dexterity as well as the need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Work Environment

Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent personal and telephone contact with patients, physicians, and other healthcare personnel. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Work may involve interaction with injured or sick patients.

Travel between all Lakeshore Bone & Joint facilities is required for this position.
