Job summary

U.S. Dermatology Partners is seeking a Physician Assistant to work under physician supervision in a dermatology setting. You will examine patients, document medical histories, diagnose skin conditions, order tests, and assist in surgical procedures including excisions and wound care.

The role requires at least two years in a medical office, with dermatology experience preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and proficient English communication are essential.

Job SummaryA Physician Assistant is a healthcare professional licensed to practice medicine with physiciansupervision; provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of physician(s);diagnoses and treats diseases of human skin by performing the following duties.Duties and ResponsibilitiesExamines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.Diagnoses patient conditions, examines skin to determine nature of disease, administers or orders diagnostic tests, taking blood samples, smears and skin biopsies from affected areas, and interprets test results for deviations from normal.Treats illnesses, abscesses, skin injuries, malignancies, skin infections, and other skin conditionsPerforms therapeutic procedures such as injections, and other procedures as appropriate.Assists Physician(s) in surgical procedures, surgically excises cutaneous malignancies, cysts, birthmarks, and other growths, suturing, wound care, and other procedures as appropriate.Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care.Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens and health maintenance.Prescribes and administers medications under the supervision of the physician(s) and in accordance with regulations of the State Medical Board/Regulatory agency for PA’s.Adheres to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service.Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization.Experience RequirementsMinimum two years of work experience in a medical office, required.Dermatology experience, preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities RequirementsThorough knowledge of medical terminology, required.Thorough knowledge of medical billing coding, including CPT and ICD-10 coding, required.Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliableManagement and organizational skills to support the leadership of this functionAbility to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretationsInterpersonal skills to support customer service, functional, and team mate support needsAble to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writingMathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solvingBasic to intermediate computer operationProficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and OutlookSpecialty knowledge of systems relating to job functionKnowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines
