Job summary

Northside Hospital in Atlanta is seeking a Physician Assistant to serve as in-house support across Internal Medicine, Spine Center, Cardiology and Bone Marrow units. You will assess and care for patients under IMS physicians and coordinate with specialists for optimal outcomes.

The role requires a PA who is board-certified with an AMA-approved PA program and NCCPA certification; ACLS/BCLS is preferred. Work hours are weekdays with some weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• REQ: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
• REQ: Successful completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program.
• REQ: Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Responsibilities

• Serve as in-house Internal Medicine Service (IMS) physician assistant and maintain responsibility for assessment and care of Internal Medicine patients under the direction of IMS physicians.
• Provide primary assessment, evaluation, care and follow-up for Spine Center patients under supervising physicians and Director of Surgical Services.
• Provide direct patient care, oversee diagnostic testing, and support cardiology physicians in outpatient and inpatient settings under the supervision of a Northside Cardiologist.
• Care for Bone Marrow Unit inpatients, including assessment, evaluation, care and follow-up for Bone Marrow/Leukemia service.

Responsibilities

Serves as in-house Internal Medicine Service (IMS) physician assistant and maintains responsibility for the assessment and care of Internal Medicine patients under the direction of the IMS physician(s).

The Physician Assistant of the Spine Center has primary responsibility for the assessment, evaluation, care and follows up of all patients referred to the Spine Center. Under the direction of the Supervising Physician, the Physician Assistant has overall responsibility for the planning and continuity of care for all patients. Under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services, the Physician Assistant has responsibility for the planning, administration, control and quality management of the department activities.

The Physician Assistant for Outpatient Cardiology has the primary responsibility for the assessment, and care of cardiology patients in both the outpatient and inpatient settings under the supervision of a Northside Cardiologist. Under the direction of the cardiologist, physician assistants will provide direct patient care, oversee diagnostic testing, and support the physicians in other clinical activities per their scope of practice.

The Physician Assistant for the Bone Marrow Unit has primary responsibility for the assessment, evaluation, care, and follow up of patients admitted to the inpatient Bone Marrow/Leukemia service.

Qualifications

REQUIRED: 1. Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.

2. Successful completion (Received PA Diploma) of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program. 3. Current certification by the National Committee on Certification of Physician Assistants.

PREFERRED: 1. Current ACLS/BCLS certification
