Qualifications

• MD or DO required; Michigan medical license must be obtained.
• 1+ year of primary care experience preferred; Family Practice or Emergency Medicine residency with clinical experience required.
• Current unrestricted Michigan physician license; Federal and State CS licenses; Board Certified or Board Eligible; Michigan driver's license; BLS required; ACLS recommended.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, documentation, communication, and patient management skills.
• Ability to supervise and direct non-physician staff.
• Proficient use of electronic health records for documentation and billing.
• Excellent communication with patients and healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive primary and/or urgent care by obtaining patient histories, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostics, diagnosing illnesses, and developing/monitoring treatment plans.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely in the EHR to support quality care, clinical requirements, and billing.
• Prescribes medications and orders diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, including minor office surgical procedures as appropriate.
• Directs and supervises nursing care and provides supervision to non-physician staff.
• Reviews laboratory and diagnostic results promptly and communicates results and follow-up to patients.
• Provides patient education, counseling, self-management guidance, and healthy behavior recommendations.
• Refs patients to specialists and coordinates care to support comprehensive treatment.
• Participates in Patient Centered Medical Home activities and quality initiatives.

What You'll Do:

As the Physician you will provide primary and/or urgent healthcare to patients while maintaining high standards of medical care and patient safety. This role will assess, diagnose, treat, and monitor patients while providing education, counseling, referrals, and appropriate follow-up.

Your Accountabilities in the Role:

• Provides comprehensive primary and/or urgent care by obtaining patient histories, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic testing, diagnosing illnesses and conditions, and developing and monitoring treatment plans.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely within the electronic health record to support quality patient care, clinical requirements, and appropriate billing.
• Prescribes medications and performs or orders appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including minor office surgical procedures as appropriate.
• Directs and supervises nursing care and provides appropriate supervision and direction to non-physician providers and clinical staff.
• Reviews laboratory and diagnostic test results in a timely manner and communicates with patients regarding results and appropriate follow-up.
• Provides patient education, counseling, self-management guidance, healthy behavior recommendations, and support for individual health goals.
• Refers patients to appropriate specialists and coordinates care as needed to support comprehensive treatment.
• Participates in Patient Centered Medical Home activities and quality initiatives to support high standards of patient care.

Position Requirements:

• Education: MD or DO required. Must possess or be able to obtain a Michigan medical license.
• Experience: 1+ Years of previous primary care experience preferred. Successful completion of a Family Practice, or Emergency Medicine residency with documented clinical experience required. Specialists must have successfully completed applicable residency and/or fellowship training.
• Certifications: Current unrestricted Michigan physician license required. Unrestricted Federal and State Controlled Substance licenses required. Board Certified or Board Eligible status required. Current Michigan driver's license required. BLS certification required; ACLS certification recommended.
• Functional Skills: Strong clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, documentation, communication, and patient management skills. Ability to provide appropriate supervision and direction to non-physician providers and clinical staff.
• Technology Skills: Ability to effectively use an electronic health record to document patient care activities, review and communicate patient information, support clinical requirements, and facilitate appropriate billing.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, healthcare providers, clinic staff, administration, and the public.

Reports To: Associate Medical Director

Core Hours: Two 11-hour work days - 7:45 am - 7:00 pm Two 9-hour days - 7:45 am - 5 pm

Typical Work Week: M-F; 40-45 hours per week; occasional Saturday rotation and call responsibilities. (8:30am - 1 pm)
