SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Physician (MD or DO) position responsibilities include providing high quality medical care, patient education, high quality EHR documentation, strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines, enjoy working in a team environment, and involvement in Quality Improvement activities. This is a full-time position and will report to the Chief Medical Officer.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Duties:

  • Provides reasonable and prudent medical care to patients, inclusive of all functions necessary to provide high-quality care.
  • Develop treatment plans for acute and chronic diseases.
  • Educate and guide patients on disease prevention, disease management, and healthy lifestyle habits.
  • Provide monitoring and continuity of care between patient visits.
  • Provides accurate and high-quality documentation in the EHR and appropriate billing/coding in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to teamwork and communications.
  • Work within a care team to achieve patient and team goals, and function as the leader of a clinical team, including MA and front desk staff.
  • Work within the provider team, including participating in regular staff meetings and collaborating with other providers to achieve desired outcomes for the clinic’s patient population as a whole and provide sufficient coverage for other staff as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality in regards to patients, staff, and program matters at all times.
  • Provides supervision and guidance for junior staff as needed, including clinical supervision for advanced practice providers.
  • Participates in teaching and precepts NP students, PA students, and residents.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
  • Obtains continuing medical education opportunities in keeping with best practices to maintain knowledge and skills.
  • Performs all other duties as required and requested by supervisor.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Degree from an accredited Medical School. Documented completion of Residency training from an accredited institution.
  • Possession and active status of all licensing, certification, and other requirements as set forth by state, federal, professional, hospital, accrediting and health payer entities on an ongoing basis. This will include but is not limited to state medical license, payer credentialing, and BLS/CPR.
  • Local knowledge about and connections to community health care and social resources is desirable.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
  • 2-7 years’ experience in a clinical setting preferred, with experience practicing in a federally qualified health center, free clinic, or other organization serving low-income and uninsured patients strongly valued.
  • Experience with health IT systems required and EPIC EMR preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Seeing: Must be able to read handwritten and printed material, as well as use computer, fax machine, Xerox machine, and other medical equipment in accordance with specialty.
  • Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with coworkers and others. Good hearing is necessary to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound.
  • Sitting: Must be able to sit for the majority of the work shift while answering telephone and communicating with others.
  • Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must be able to stand intermittently and be capable of walking on hardwood and linoleum floors with concrete underpayments. Must be able to walk between various clinical areas and departments.
  • Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: This position requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for easy and skillful use of hands when working with and performing normal office duties and responsibilities.
