Partnership Health Center Overview

Partnership Health Center (PHC), 2019 and 2022 winner of the Employer of Choice Award for Missoula, and 2022 winner of the Montana Employer of Choice Award, offers integrated services to over 18,000 individuals and families. PHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center with 14 sites in Missoula County and provides a full range of primary care services—medical, dental, behavioral health, and on‑site pharmacy—while addressing social determinants of health.

Job Definition

Serves as a physician member of the Partnership Health Center primary care staff, which includes advanced practice providers and volunteer physicians.

Representative Examples of Work

• Provides primary medical care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients, and maintains medical records of patient visits using an adopted format.
• Addresses preventive health and public health issues as appropriate.
• Assures appropriate referrals and/or hospitalization with hospitalists as indicated for patients.
• Participates in after‑hours call system for PHC patients in cooperative fashion with other PHC providers.
• Participates in quality assurance activities including chart review, CQI team participation, and other activities as assigned by the Medical Director or designee.
• Participates in PHC staff meetings and clinic meetings, and serves as a leadership model for other staff regarding commitment to PHC’s mission and philosophy.
• Establishes, reviews, and maintains clinical policies and principles to assure the quality of medical care provided to patients.

Other Duties

• Contributes to PHC's annual health care plan and goals and objectives.
• Contributes to policies and protocols and assists in supervising advanced practice providers in the PHC clinic.
• Serves as liaison between PHC and the medical community.
• Performs related work as required or directed.

Supervision

• Received: Under the general administrative direction and medical supervision of the PHC Chief Executive Officer or designee.
• Exercised: No direct supervision exercised. May supervise students during rotations.

Working Relationships

Has numerous contacts with the general public, PHC clinic staff, and other employees and professionals in allied health fields. Acts as an expert in a professional field to inform people of their health status and problems and to influence patients to comply with health care recommendations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of primary care medicine, preventive medicine, community health care, social service resources, HIPAA compliance, PHC Corporate Compliance Guidelines, and clinical assessment principles.
• Skill in diagnosis and treatment, interpretation of diagnostic tests, current medications and therapies, basic lab procedures, clinical examination, charting, and related instruments and equipment.
• Ability to work with a multi‑disciplinary team, support PHC's mission, provide culturally sensitive care, develop and maintain effective working relationships, communicate effectively in English orally and in writing, and practice in accordance with approved protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy from an accredited medical school; board‑certified, board‑eligible, or residency trained; family practice required.
• Special Requirements: Holds or will hold a current license to practice medicine in Montana with full prescriptive authority and no history of licensure suspension or disciplinary action. Eligible for malpractice/liability coverage. Holds required immunizations and TB test. New employees will be asked to volunteer vaccination status and will receive assistance to obtain necessary immunizations. Non‑vaccinated individuals will receive a reasonable accommodation if it does not impose undue hardship or endanger health and safety.

Physical/Environmental Demands

The work is commonly performed in the PHC clinics and office settings. Requires bending and lifting in the medium range (20 to 40 pounds). Involves a high risk of exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, communicable diseases, and may require evenings, weekends, on‑call coverage, and Saturday clinic shifts. Travel to affiliated satellite locations may also be necessary. This position is not eligible for full‑time remote work.
