Job summary

Position Overview

Jackson County Hospital District is seeking a full-time Physician to join Jackson County Medical Clinic in Edna, Texas.

This position provides comprehensive outpatient medical care to a diverse patient population in a collaborative clinical environment. The Physician will evaluate and treat patients, manage acute and chronic conditions, provide preventive care, and coordinate services with other members of the healthcare team and Jackson County Hospital District.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive patient examinations and obtain appropriate medical histories.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Develop and oversee individualized treatment and follow-up plans.
  • Order, review, and interpret laboratory testing, imaging, ECGs, and other diagnostic studies as appropriate.
  • Prescribe medications, therapies, and other treatment interventions within the scope of practice.
  • Provide preventive care, health screenings, wellness education, and health maintenance counseling.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, dietary recommendations, and preventive health measures.
  • Coordinate patient care with nursing staff, other clinicians, specialists, and Jackson County Hospital District services.
  • Refer patients for specialty care or additional services when medically appropriate.
  • Perform or request routine diagnostic and clinical procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Provide appropriate emergency interventions when necessary.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and support the Hospital District's Quality Improvement Program.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable Medicare requirements, regulatory standards, hospital policies, clinical protocols, and standards of care.
Qualifications
  • Licensure: Current or eligible for a Texas Medical License.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong clinical judgment, patient counseling, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, clinical staff, hospital departments, patients, and families.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification and ACLS, PALS, and/or ATLS as required by position responsibilities and applicable trauma standards.
  • Ability to maintain all credentialing, licensure, continuing education, and other professional requirements applicable to the position.

The Physician must:

  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality.
  • Promote positive patient relations and a professional, patient-centered environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, hospital personnel, and department leadership.
  • Follow infection prevention practices, standard precautions, and aseptic procedures when providing patient care or handling potentially infectious materials.
  • Demonstrate respect for patient needs, dignity, preferences, and concerns in all interactions.
  • Participate in organizational quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and as outlined in the applicable employment agreement.
Physical Requirements

Position responsibilities may require extended periods of standing and walking, as well as bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally assist with moving or supporting patients who may become weak or require physical assistance.
