Job summary

Disney Cruise Line seeks a Shipboard Physician to evaluate and treat crew and guests aboard a Disney vessel. You report to the Chief Physician (Shore side) and Lead Physician (Shipboard) and are integral to safety, medical decision-making, and medical reporting.

Qualifications

• Active medical license from STCW country.
• Medical degree from a recognized college or university from an STCW country.
• Letter of good standing from Medical Board/Council prior to joining a vessel.
• 3 years recent medical experience in general and emergency medicine, trauma care or critical care.
• Pediatric patient experience (emergency, inpatient, or outpatient).
• BLS, PALS, ACLS certifications; ACLS/ALS certificates valid prior to embarkation.
• Digital literacy with MS Office and electronic health records.

Responsibilities

• Supervise shore referrals and medical debarks of Crew Members with Shoreside Medical Services.
• Monitor Crew unfit for duty and communicate with shore Medical Services regarding Guest debarks.
• Consult with Senior Physician for medical disembark decisions and maintain reports.
• Attend drills and provide Emergency Stretcher Team training.
• Participate in lifeboat drills, safety duties, and duties assigned by Captain.
• Ensure proper handling of controlled substances and assist immunization programs.

Responsibilities :

How You Will Make a Difference

Under direction of Senior Physician:

• Supervise shore referrals and medical debarks of Crew Members in conjunction with Shoreside Medical Services
• Monitors Crew “unfit for duty.”
• Provide accurate communication with Medical Services shore personnel regarding Guest medical debarks
• Consults with Senior Physician for making the medical decision for medical disembarks.
• Maintain open lines of communications with the leaders of the other ship’s departments.
• Responsible for seeing to the accuracy and completeness of all reports (AGE, Unfit for Duty, Health Declarations for ports of call, etc.) prior to submittal.
• Follows ACEP Guidelines, pertinent sections of the Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP) Manual and the Book of Privileges for Officers.
• Attend all drills scheduled by the Safety Officer as assigned.
• Provide training for Emergency Stretcher Team
• Participates in duties common to all onboard staff, such as lifeboat drills, responsibilities assigned by the Captain, or any other duty pertaining to Guest Safety.
• Accurate use of Controlled Substance handling and disposal.
• Assist with implementation of crew immunization programs.

Basic Qualifications :

What You Will Bring to the Team

• Active medical license from STCW country.
• Medical degree from a recognized college or university from an STCW country
• Provide a letter of good standing from the Medical Board/Council prior to joining a vessel
• 3 Years recent medical experience in general and emergency medicine, trauma care or critical care
• Background treating pediatric patients (emergency, inpatient, or outpatient)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ALCS)
• Valid accredited BLS/PALS/ALS/ACLS certificates prior to embarking
• Digital literacy, experience with MS Office programs and electronic health records

Preferred Qualifications:

Your Responsibilities:

• Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
• Complete a pre-employment medical
• Obtain a criminal background check
• Bring approved work shoes
