Job summary

Hughston is seeking a leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Physical Therapy Department in Columbus, GA. The role ensures patient needs are met and aligns with physician expectations.

Ideal candidate has supervisory health-care experience, PT or PTA licensure, and strong communication skills. Must maintain BLS and a valid driver’s license, with emphasis on compliance and quality care.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Two years supervisory experience in health care setting preferred.
  • Must have current state license in PT or PTA and maintain BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Review PT workflow and billing/documentation daily (orders, forms, etc).
  • Oversee development, direction and coordination of PT staff.
  • Update PT policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain departmental budgets; report variances monthly.
  • Ensure rehabilitation services meet regulatory guidelines and standards.
  • Manage PT inventory: ordering, receiving, stocking, invoicing, vendor relations.
  • Assist staff and physicians in choosing braces and fittings.
  • Maintain positive relationships with patients, physicians, staff and corporate teams.
  • Ensure staff provide direct patient care and maintain quality patient care.

To oversee the day-to-day operations of the Physical Therapy Department in the most efficient manner as possible. Ensuring the Physical Therapy Department is meeting the needs of the patients as well as the physicians..



Position Responsibilities


  • Responsible for reviewing PT workflow and processes to ensure billing and documentation requirements are met on a daily basis, i.e. PT orders, procedure documentation, signed forms, etc.

  • Provides oversight for development , direction and coordination of all Physical Therapy staff..

  • Responsible for updating PT policies and procedures..

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining departmental budgets, reporting on variances in budget system monthly and overall oversight of budget.

  • Provides oversight for development, direction and coordination of all Physical Therapy staff.

  • Responsible for maintaining all PT regulatory guidelines and standards.

  • Manages all aspects of PT inventory management, including but not limited to: supply ordering, receiving, stocking, payment of supplier invoices, reviewing and facilitating all requests for new product, reporting product abnormalities, ensuring staff are appropriately trained and scheduled to meet all patient needs.

  • Assists staff and physicians in problem solving in regards to type of brace and fitting that best suits the patient and their specific needs.

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with the patients, physicians, staff, and corporate staff..

  • Ensure PT staff are providing direct patient care activities as assigned.

  • Responsible to ensure that quality patient care is being provided by all therapist.

  • Ensures that all physicians' needs are being met regarding rehabilitative services..

  • Responsible to ensure that rehab department id Medicare compliant and that billing is appropriate.

  • Plans and administers medically prescribed physical therapy (PT) treatments for patients suffering from injuries or disease and to restore function, prevent disability and relieve pain..

  • Consults with physicians and/or other departments about the impact of PT factors on patient health status.

  • Documents findings, treatments and other patient information for medical records as necessary. Bills patients according to proper procedures.

  • Educates patient/family on appropriate care and use of various therapies and/or exercises.

  • ,Performs a staff meeting at a frequency they desire but no less than quarterly.

  • Serves as an information and education resource for patients, families and other members of the therapy staff.

  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.

  • Performs related work as required.

  • Recommends solutions to patient care problems.

  • Maintains patient confidentiality.

  • Tentative start date is June 1, 2023



Position Requirements

Experience: Minimum 2 years experience as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant required. Two (2) years supervisory experience in health care setting preferred.



Education

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy or Physical Therapy Assistant.



Special Qualification

Must have current state License in PT or PTA. Must maintain BLS certification. Must have a valid drivers license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Must demonstrate good judgement in performance with daily duties and excellent communication skills both oral and written.
