Position Overview
Summit Home Care and Hospice is searching for an experienced and motivated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team. We’re committed to providing comprehensive healthcare services in the comfort of our patients' homes to positively impact quality of life by redefining the delivery of care.
Employment Details
Full‑Time Hours: Monday – Friday (40 Hours/Week)
Coverage Location: Cincinnati, OH (Focus on West/Central/Downtown areas)
Travel: Required + Mileage Reimbursement ($0.48 / Mile)
Schedule: Flexible / Based on Caseload Volume
Responsibilities
- Work directly with patients on therapeutic exercises designed to help regain full mobility, strengthen muscles, and improve coordination.
- Administer various physical modalities, such as soft tissue massage, electrical muscle stimulation, and ultrasounds, to relieve pain, improve circulation, and decrease swelling.
- Collaborate with other team personnel to achieve well‑rounded care.
- Develop and implement physical therapy programs that focus on rehabilitation.
- Evaluate effects of therapy treatment and communicate patients' progress.
- Observe and reassess a patient’s progress so that the plan of care can be modified as needed.
- Share necessary information with the Physical Therapist (PT) when adjustments need to be made.
- Ensure that patients receive personalized care.
- Provide training for using assistive devices, such as crutches, canes, or prosthetics.
- Record and document patient care services and progress.
- Keep the PT up to date on the patient’s progress and identify which aspects of the treatment are working or need adjustments to determine the best path forward.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Science or Applied Science from an accredited institution.
- Active PTA License in the state of Ohio.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance.
- Current CPR certification.
- Recent TB test.
- Ready to travel to patients’ homes to provide care.
- Previous experience in physical therapy, rehabilitation, or related areas preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and organization skills.
- Ability to build rapport with in‑home patients, PT, and Assisted Living Facility (ALF)/Independent Living Facility (ILF) staff as necessary.
- Work in a fast‑paced, flexible environment.
- Ability to handle the physical workload with kindness, compassion, and empathy.
