Job summary

Mercy is seeking a qualified Physical Therapy Assistant to provide in-home therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The role emphasizes independent scheduling of patient visits, coordination with hospital staff, and flexible shift rotations including weekends and on-call duties.

Qualified candidates will have PTA education, current state licensure, CPR certification, and strong skills in assessment, treatment planning, communication, and documentation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-home physical therapy services under supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Schedule patient visits in a timely and efficient manner; daily coordination with the office.
  • May be assigned weekend and on-call rotation and may drive to patient homes.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds frequently; able to handle emergencies and adapt to change; works independently when needed.

Overview

Provides in home physical therapy services to patients that have neuro and/or musculoskeletal disorders. Works under direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.

Position Details:

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.

Licensure: Current state license. Valid drivers license.

Experience:

Certifications: CPR certification.

Other: Employee possesses good assessment and treatment planning skills. Employee is energetic, gets along well with others, has good time management and problem solving skills. Employee possesses good communication and documentation skills. Employee is in good physical health and able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently with occasional lifting of over 50 pounds. Employee frequently will work independently and must be able to handle emergencies without assistance. Employee adapts to and works effectively with change, takes initiative, sets challenging objectives and values and seeks opportunity to learn. Employee may be required to drive in hazardous conditions; must be able to follow written or verbal instructions and read a map. Employee must independently schedule patient visits in timely and efficient manner; checking in with office daily to update schedule. Employee is assigned weekend and on-call rotation. Employee has regular contact with agency staff members, physicians, hospital staff, and general public. Employee regularly handles confidential information.

Preferred Experience: Two years experience in acute care or home care preferred.
