Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Nantucket Cottage Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to work under a Physical Therapist. You will review evaluations, interview patients, perform examinations, and help plan patient care.

Essential duties include observing progress, fitting braces or crutches, instructing patients and families in exercises and equipment use, documenting treatments, and coordinating with the therapy team.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's Degree Physical Therapy Assistant required.
• MA PTA license preferred.
• BLS certification preferred.
• Driver's license preferred.
• Internship or apprenticeship experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients during treatments and report progress to the PT.
• Fit patients for braces, prostheses, or crutches as needed.
• Instruct patients and families in exercise programs and equipment use.
• Clean work area and store equipment after treatment.
• Coordinate with PT staff to plan, modify, or coordinate treatment.
• Document treatments and notes as needed.

Job Summary

As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will treat patients requiring physical therapy under the direction of a Physical Therapist. Serves Physical Therapy Patients by reviewing physical therapist interpretations of patient evaluations and test results; interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; recommending options and courses of action to physical therapists; giving normal growth and development information; promoting wellness and health maintenance.

Essential Functions

• Observe patients during treatments to compile and evaluate data on their responses and progress and provide results to physical therapist in person or through progress notes
• Fit patients for orthopedic braces, prostheses, or supportive devices, such as crutches as needed per site.
• Instructs patients and their families in appropriate exercise program and in use of equipment.
• Clean work area and check and store equipment after treatment.
• Confer with physical therapy staff or others to discuss and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, or coordinating treatment.
• Document treatments and notes as needed.
