The Physical Therapist Assistant assists the Physical Therapist in providing physical therapy. The incumbent performs physical therapy procedures and related tasks delegated by the supervising Physical Therapist. They may modify specific treatment procedures according to patient status within the established treatment plan and document patient progress. The incumbent will safely and effectively provide physical therapy procedures as directed, addressing age-specific needs, and treating patients and families with respect and dignity. Pain assessment and management are part of the role, aligning with the department's pain management policy. The philosophy of Mercy Hospital emphasizes optimizing patient comfort. The incumbent will identify and report safety issues and provide technical assistance and direction to the Physical Therapy aide, coordinating workload as directed.
