Overview

Provides physical therapy interventions to designated patients under the supervision of a Physical Therapist (PT). Assists in monitoring patient progress through observations and follows up with supervising therapist. Works under PT supervision as required under NY State Education law.

What you will do:
  • Follow established physical therapy plan of care, including interventions and patient/caregiver education. Modify procedures as per PT plan and PTA scope of practice. Document all care and maintain records per VNS Health policy.
  • Assist in monitoring patient progress and follow up with Supervising Therapist as per policy.
  • Comply with PTA scope of practice, including co-visits with PT on initial visits and keeping PT informed. PT will re-assess every 6 visits or 30 days.
  • Manage assigned caseload; provide services as directed by PT plan of care.
  • Participate in meetings, training programs, and reviews.
  • Travel to patients’ homes or facilities, adapting to various environments, to deliver care.
  • Assist patients with therapeutic interventions and activities of daily living, including use of medical equipment.
  • Provide care in accordance with policies and standards, involving physical activities such as standing, sitting, bending, and stretching.
  • Transport and utilize technology devices and supplies, carrying approximately 15-20 lbs.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications: NY State Certification as PTA required. Valid driver’s license may be required based on needs.

Education: Associate's Degree as PTA from an approved NY program or equivalent.

Work Experience: Minimum of two years in clinical patient care. Bilingual skills and basic PC skills preferred.

Pay Range

USD $30.71 - USD $38.41 /Hr.
