Responsibilities

• Supervisory duties and delegation of tasks to Rehab technicians.
• Manage monthly budget for ordering equipment and supplies.
• Bill patients for treatment equipment in a timely manner.
• Maintain productivity in line with department targets.
• Carry out treatment plans under licensed Physical Therapists.
• Maintain competence in Therapeutic Exercise/Activity, gait training, cognitive skills, wheelchair transfers, modalities.
• Provide continuing education inservices and mentor new employees.
• Serve as clinical instructor after one year of clinical experience.
• Complete documentation in compliance with regulations.

JOB SUMMARY

The Physical Therapy Assistant at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for maintaining patient care productivity, effectively implementing treatment plans established by licensed Physical Therapists, and demonstrating competence in various therapy techniques. This position requires strong organizational skills, coordination with interdisciplinary teams, and the ability to address patient needs while adhering to regulations and guidelines.

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Supervisory.
• Delegates authority Rehab technicians. Budget:
• Remains within monthly budget when ordering equipment and supplies.
• Charges patients appropriately and in a timely manner for treatment equipment.
• Clinical:
• Maintains productivity level at department target.
• Effectively carries out treatment plan established by licensed Physical Therapist.
• Remains competent in the following areas:
• Therapeutic Exercise/Activity.
• Gait training.
• Cognitive skills.
• Wheelchair transfers.
• Modalities as appropriate for PTA.
• Attends and provides continuing education inservices.
• Serves as mentor for new employees.
• Serves as clinical instructor after one year of experience as a clinician.
• Completes documentation according to all regulations and in a timely manner.
• Other:
• Must be competent in use of computer for documentation and charging purposes.
• Regulation:
• Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines.
• Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statutes.
