Job summary

Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to join the on-site team for a full-time day shift. You will work under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to deliver direct patient care, train families on exercises and equipment, and maintain accurate documentation.

The ideal candidate has graduated from a 2-year PTA program, holds a CA PTA license, and carries BLS certification. Experience in rehabilitation is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a 2-year college-level PTA program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association or a CAPTE program.
• California Physical Therapy Assistant license required upon hire.
• National Provider BLS – American Heart Association certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and therapeutic interventions as directed.
• Train family or caregivers on rehabilitation exercises and equipment use.
• Document patient progress and update treatment plans.
• Communicate patient status with interdisciplinary team.
• Assist with other departmental tasks.

Full time, 8‑hour day shift.

Job Overview

The Physical Therapist Assistant works under the supervision of a registered physical therapist providing direct patient care, family/caregiver training, documentation, and team communication for all assigned patients. The assistant also performs departmental supportive tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and therapeutic interventions as directed.
• Train family or caregivers on rehabilitation exercises and equipment use.
• Document patient progress and update treatment plans.
• Communicate patient status with interdisciplinary team.
• Assist with other departmental tasks.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of a 2‑year college‑level program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association, or a CAPTE program (for those initially licensed after 2010) per Medicare requirements.
• California Physical Therapy Assistant license upon hire.
• National Provider BLS – American Heart Association certification upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in rehabilitation.
