Ontario Performance Rehab Inc. in Etobicoke, ON is seeking an experienced Physical Therapy Assistant to join our Athletic Training Facility, Sports Therapy and Full Rehabilitation clinic.

You will support patients in one-on-one sessions, administer treatment programs and assist with modalities and testing prescribed by the physiotherapist. This full-time role offers a flexible schedule, on-site gym and access to wellness and training classes.

Qualifications

• Two years of Physical Therapy: required.
• Experience in hands-on training, modalities and testing as prescribed by physiotherapist.
• Ability to communicate with a wide range of patients.

Responsibilities

• Support Patients in one-on-one physical therapy sessions.
• Administer treatment programs for patients.
• Follow physical testing treatment plans and protocols as prescribed by physiotherapist.
• Provide advice on exercise and follow strategies to implement at home to enhance and/or maintain treatment.
• Provide continuing care through scheduled sessions with modalities (hot/cold packs, US, IFC, TENS), mobility testing, athletic taping and physical manipulation as needed.
• Collaborate with the inter-professional team through documentation and/or direct consultation.
• Develop materials for patient use, such as exercise handouts.
• Prepare equipment for patient use (mobility aids, wheelchairs, exercise gear).
• Maintain safe and clean working environment per infection-control policies.
• Attend patient care information sessions and staff meetings.

As Physical Therapy Assistant Ideal Candidate, You Have:

• experience in following physiotherapy treatment plans
• experience in hands-on training, modalities (US, Hydrotherapy, IFC/TENS) and physical testing as prescribed by physiotherapist
• Kinesiology or Athletic Therapy education/training

Physical Therapy Assistant Position Details

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support Patients in one-on-one physical therapy sessions
• Administer treatment programs for patients
• Follow physical testing treatment plans and protocols as prescribed by physiotherapist
• Provide advice on exercise and follow strategies to implement at home to enhance and or maintain treatment, as written up in the treatment plan
• Provide continuing care through scheduled physical therapy sessions with modalities (hot/cold packs, US, IFC and TENS units), mobility testing, athletic taping and physical manipulation as needed
• Help augment goals in collaboration with the patient and/or substitute decision maker and physiotherapist, as progress continues
• Collaborate with members of our inter-professional team through documentation and/or direct consultation
• Develop materials for use with patients, such as exercise handouts
• Prepare equipment for patient use, such as mobility aids, wheelchairs, and exercise equipment
• Enhance physical therapy reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
• Document observations and patient progress in the clinical software (SOAP notes)
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
• Attend and contribute to patient care information sessions and staff meetings
