Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited therapy program.
  • 2-3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current Physical Therapy Assistant state license; CPR certification.

Pay range is $27.90 to $39.20 / hour BOE

Position Summary

Assists physical therapists in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures. Essential Duties
  • Provides services under the direction of a licensed physical therapist, working as a trusted partner within the care team.
  • Contributes to the physical therapist's effectiveness by identifying resident care issues and communicating them clearly.
  • Administers treatment programs for residents with attentiveness to their comfort and individual needs.
  • Documents resident care services according to approved medical and facility documentation procedures.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises and instructing, encouraging, and assisting residents in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily living activities.
  • Builds rapport and trust with residents, taking time to understand what motivates and encourages each individual through their recovery.
  • Helps residents in using supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
  • Instructs and counsels residents by describing therapeutic regimens, sharing normal growth and development information, and promoting wellness and health maintenance.
  • Collaborates closely with fellow team members, contributing to a supportive, inclusive workplace culture where diverse backgrounds and perspectives are welcomed and celebrated.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited therapy program.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current Physical Therapy Assistant state license; CPR certification.
  • Physical stamina to lift, transfer, and assist residents through physical activities.
  • Requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted, including assisting residents when needed.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with residents in person and over the phone.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of residents and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
  • Position requires medium-heavy physical work. Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up more than 45 pounds of force repeatedly to move objects.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Interacts with residents, family members and visitors frequently.
