Job summary

Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy in Hauppauge, NY is seeking a Physical Therapist Aide to support therapists, prepare treatment rooms, and assist patients with exercises in a busy outpatient setting. Responsibilities

• Serve as a scribe for recording and editing therapeutic exercises under supervision.
• Help treat patients by preparing heat and ice packs; paraffin dips; assisting patients to the pool; guiding patients to exercise equipment; monitoring motion; guiding exercises and strengthening techniques.
• Ensure operation of treatment equipment by performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
• Prepare patients for therapy by welcoming and assisting into sessions.
• Provide information to patients by answering questions and requests; alleviating fears.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and regulations.
• Provide equipment and supplies by sterilizing and delivering to treatment area; positioning equipment and patients.
• Prepare the treatment room for patients by following procedures.
• Answer calls from physician offices, hospitals, and patients with excellent customer service.
• Maintain inventory of PT supplies and place orders as needed.
• Provide front desk coverage and assist with scheduling.

Days & Hours: Monday–Thursday 10am–3pm, Friday 10am–7pm

Essential Responsibilities

• Serve as a scribe for recording and editing therapeutic exercises under the supervision of a Doctor of Physical Therapy and/or Occupational Therapy
• Help treat patients by preparing heat and ice packs; paraffin dips; assisting patients to the pool; guiding patients to exercise equipment, monitoring motion; tracking patient physical exertion levels; guiding patients through prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques
• Ensure operation of treatment equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instruction; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs
• Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines
• Prepare patients for therapy treatment by welcoming, comforting, providing, and/or assisting patients into therapy sessions
• Provide information to patients by answering questions and requests; allaying fears
• Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
• Provide equipment and supplies by sterilizing and delivering equipment and supplies to the treatment area; positioning equipment for therapist access; positioning patients on equipment
• Prepare the treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols
• Answer calls from physician offices, hospitals, and patients using exemplary customer service skills
• Maintain physical therapy supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies
• Provide front desk coverage as needed; this includes answering calls from physician offices, hospitals and patients, and assisting with scheduling
• Perform other front desk duties and assignments as required

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The staff member can regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Qualifications

• Must be able to cover 15-20 minutes from your home office. You are responsible for your transportation to and from work including any coverage shifts you accept

Additional Information

The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is $17‑18.50/hr. Compensation is based on various factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job‑related qualifications, and geography.
