Job summary

The Physical Therapist at HCA Florida Northside Hospital in Saint Petersburg, FL provides high-quality, patient-centered care by managing the complete process of therapeutic care for an assigned group of patients in coordination with the physician and care team.

The role focuses on patient assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and delivering the majority of therapy with emphasis on patient engagement and achieving measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
• Florida licensure as a Physical Therapist is required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide evaluations and treatment within scope of practice and ethics.
• Assess and plan care, develop total plan of care.
• Deliver or direct therapy in line with physician plan of care, including home-based care when applicable.
• Instruct patients and families on therapies and exercises for use outside sessions.
• Manage caseload and coordinate daily staffing needs.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Physical Therapist (PT) provides high-quality, patient-centered care by managing the complete process of therapeutic care of an assigned group of patients in coordination with the physician and the patient care team. The Physical Therapist completes patient assessments and participates in developing and implementing individualized care plans focusing on goal achievement, patient engagement, and positive patient experience. The Physical Therapist provides or directs a majority of the patient’s physical therapy to support patients throughout the continuum of care.

What you will do in this role:

• You will provide evaluations and treatment interventions within the scope of practice established by law and professional code of ethics.




• You will assess and evaluate therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status and participate in the development of the total plan of care.




• You will provide purposeful and skilled therapeutic care at patient’s home, using procedures and techniques to produce a change in condition/function consistent with the physician’s plan of care.




• You will instruct patient/family/caregiver in the use of therapies, exercises, therapeutic appliances, and/or prosthetic devices to be used outside of therapy sessions.




• You will prioritize caseload, determine daily staffing needs and coordinate assignments/handoffs.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy




• B.S. or M.S. in Physical Therapy




• Clear/active Florida Department of Health licensure as a Physical Therapist




• Current certification as a Basic Life Support (BLS) provider




• Customer service abilities including effective listening skills




• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment




• Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
