Job summary

TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Physical Therapist (School-Based) in New York, NY to support students with developmental disabilities through school-based physical therapy services and mobility development.

You will work with teachers, families and health professionals, perform evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, recommend adaptive equipment, and maintain accurate documentation to meet educational and clinical requirements.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred.
• Active NY State Physical Therapist license and registration required.
• 1+ year of pediatric/school-based experience preferred; new graduates encouraged to apply.
• Knowledge of pediatric rehabilitation, mobility training, adaptive equipment, developmental disabilities, and school-based therapy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical therapy services in accordance with individualized education plans, treatment goals, and student needs.
• Conduct evaluations and assessments to identify mobility, motor development, positioning, and functional movement needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on mobility, posture, motor skills, safety, and functional independence.
• Recommend, monitor, and support the use of adaptive equipment, orthotics, mobility devices, and therapeutic positioning programs.
• Partner with teachers, families, therapists, and healthcare professionals to coordinate services and support student progress.
• Maintain accurate documentation, monitor student progress, and ensure compliance with educational and clinical requirements.

TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Physical Therapist (School-Based) in New York, NY for our client, supporting physical therapy services, mobility development, therapeutic interventions, and individualized education plans for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This opportunity will work closely with educators, therapists, families, and healthcare providers to help students improve functional mobility, independence, safety, and participation within the educational environment.

The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical skills, a collaborative approach, and a passion for working with children and adolescents in a special education setting.

Responsibilities as the Physical Therapist

• Therapy Services: Provide physical therapy services in accordance with individualized education plans, treatment goals, and student needs.

Qualifications for the Physical Therapist

• Experience: 1+ years of experience working with children in pediatric, school-based, developmental disability, autism, or special education settings is preferred, and new graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of pediatric rehabilitation, mobility training, adaptive equipment, developmental disabilities, and school-based therapy services is required.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic documentation systems is required.
• Skills & Attributes: Strong communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team are required.
