Job summary

Alps Rehab at Wayne is seeking a Physical Therapist (PT) to organize and conduct physical therapy programs, directing client participation to restore and enhance performance. The PT will promote independence, productivity, and overall health in residents within the facility.

The role requires graduates from an accredited PT program, NJ licensure eligibility, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist eligible in NJ.
• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy curriculum.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to supervise supportive personnel as required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates residents, develops treatment goals and plans, and documents services.
• Designs and fits adaptive devices and trains residents in their use.
• Selects physical agent modalities suited to individuals’ needs.
• Consults with rehabilitation team to select optimal regimen.
• Instructs residents in mobility skills and evaluates progress.
• Adapts program to individual resident needs.
• Promotes a safe environment and enforces safety rules.
• Attends resident care and staffing conferences.
• Supervises supportive personnel per standards.
• Conducts training programs for staff in PT techniques and objectives.
• Orders supplies and equipment as necessary.
• Cleans, maintains, and reports repairs of equipment.
• Ensures residents and families receive high-quality care.

Physical Therapist (PT) POSITION SUMMARY

The Physical Therapist organizes and conducts physical therapy programs for the facility to facilitate rehabilitation. He/she directs client participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. In addition, the Physical Therapist facilitates the learning of those skills and functions essential for promoting independence and productivity, in order to diminish or correct pathology. He/she directs activities to promote and maintain health.

Physical Therapist (PT) RESPONSIBLITIES/Accountabilities

• 1 Evaluates residents, develops appropriate treatment goals, and methods, implements the physical therapy treatment plan, and completes all related documentation and record keeping regarding these services; services include application of therapeutic techniques in areas such as gait, ambulation, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, posture control, sensory awareness, sitting and standing skills, balance and orientation;
• 2 Designs and fits adaptive devices, and trains residents in the use of adaptive devices including orthotics and prosthetics;
• 3 Selects physical agent modalities suited to the individual’s needs, physical capacity, mobility activities and diagnosis;
• 4 Consults with other members of the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
• 5 Instructs resident in the skills and techniques required for participation in mobility activities, and evaluates client progress, attitudes, and behavior as related to rehabilitative potential;
• 6 Adapts program according to the needs of individual resident;
• 7 Promotes a safe environment and enforces the elimination of fire and safety hazards;
• 8 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing conferences and other related meetings;
• 9 Supervises supportive personnel in accordance with state and professional standards;
• 10 Conducts training programs and participates in training medical, nursing and other personnel in physical therapy techniques and objectives;
• 11 Orders supplies and equipment as necessary;
• 12 Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment as necessary;
• 13 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

Physical Therapist (PT) SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Graduate of a physical therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Physical Therapy Association and certified by the American Physical Therapy Association under its requirements.

Physical Therapist (PT) JOB SKILLS

• 1 Good organizational skills and time management skills.
• 2 Good verbal and written communication skills.
• 3 Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required in NJ.
