Job description

Physical Therapist (PT) – Full-time

Salary Range: $40.30‑48.99 per hour

The Physical Therapist (PT) assumes responsibility and accountability for a designated group of patients and provides evaluations, modalities, and treatments in accordance with established policies and procedures, maintaining the highest degree of quality patient care. The PT assists patients to reach maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within their capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of patients being treated by Physical Therapist Assistants and Therapy techs. May orient staff and students and supervise in their absence.
  • Assesses patients' needs, identifies and initiates appropriate physical therapy interventions, and works cooperatively with other patient team personnel.
  • Observes and evaluates treatment effectiveness, and recommends changes to physician when required.
  • Performs accurate assessments and reassessments, and performs QI scoring as per policy.
  • Assesses patient pain and implements interventions to reduce pain; contacts physician if needed.
  • Formulates and updates patient‑specific plan of care and reports progress and discharge barriers at team conferences.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in a patient‑safety oriented environment, reducing risk of errors.
  • Develops a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates its effectiveness; includes family as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of physical therapy modalities and maintains competency.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
  • Manages and operates equipment safely; maintains department cleanliness and safety.
  • Interacts professionally with patients, families, clinicians, and administrative staff.
  • Communicates clearly with physicians, staff, and administration.
  • Participates in patient/family and interdisciplinary conferences.
  • Shows flexibility, organization, and composure under stressful situations.
  • Maintains positive relationships within the department and with other departments.
  • Consults other departments as needed to collaborate in patient care and improvement activities.
  • Meets documentation standards; documents goals on the Interdisciplinary Care Plan upon admission and updates regularly.
  • Participates in educational staff performance improvement in‑services and assists with orientation and in‑service training for certified staff.
  • Ensures accurate patient charges entered on time.
  • Participates in infection control, equipment training, and safety programs.
Qualifications
  • Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
  • Current and unrestricted Physical Therapy license in the state where services are rendered.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
