Responsibilities

• Provides physical therapy evaluations and treatment to medical/post-surgical patients on the Med-Surg and Rehab floors
• Completes documentation and charges in a thorough, concise, and timely manner
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, therapists, nurses, physicians and other team members
• Sets priorities and plans care directly with an interdisciplinary team
• Maintains knowledge of equipment, expected outcomes, and potential complications
• Demonstrates competency in job duties and continues professional development

Education

Job description

The Physical Therapist functions as an interdisciplinary team member providing patient assessment/re-assessment, direct patient care and individualized care planning/implementation. Always works as a team member within the entire facility. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

• Provides physical therapy evaluations/treatment to medical/post surgical patients on the Med-Surg and Rehab floor according to policy and procedure and care standards.
• Completes documentation and charges in a thorough, concise, and timely manner as established by policy and procedure.
• Ability to take direction from others and follow through in an efficient manner.
• Ability to communicate well with patients, families, occupational/physical therapists, nurses, physicians and other team members, etc.
• Ability to set priorities.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment, expected patient outcome, and anticipated complications.
• Satisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties.

Accountability:

• Reports to: Therapy Manager, RN Director of ICU, ER and Specialty Services
• Supervises: PTA’s, Students

Qualifications:

Hazards will be minimized if universal safety procedures are followed. Must follow standard precautions. May be required to work weekends or flex schedules. Travel may be required.
