Job summary

SCA Health in Indiana is seeking a Physical Therapist to evaluate and treat patients with musculoskeletal injuries within our Ambulatory network. You will apply therapeutic exercises and modalities, follow physician orders, and participate in care planning.

The position requires a BS/MS/PhD in physical therapy, Indiana licensure, and a minimum of two years of experience (new grads welcome). You will collaborate with physicians, use electronic health records, and may cover SBO locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: B.S., M.S., or Ph.D in an accredited physical therapy program; licensed in Indiana.
• Experience: Minimum of two years physical therapy experience preferred; new graduates considered.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat musculoskeletal injuries per physician orders.
• Document evaluations, notes, and progress using EHR.
• Develop and implement care plans with goals and patient education.
• Provide coverage at SBO locations as needed.
• Supervise PT assistants and ensure accurate billing paperwork.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

The Physical Therapist evaluates and treats patients with musculoskeletal injuries, conditions and disabilities through the use of various physical modalities, therapeutic exercises and therapeutic procedures in accordance with the physician's orders and department policies.

Essential Functions

• Assess, consults with physician, develops plan of care and goals with patient. Provides treatment based on physician’s orders.
• Utilize electronic health records efficiently and effectively to complete evaluations, daily notes and physician progress reports in a timely manner.
• Observes and reassesses the patient’s condition and recommends appropriate changes to the plan of care.
• Instruct patients in home exercise programs.
• Operates within safety, infection and environmental control policies and procedures for physical therapy.
• Fits and instruct in use and dispenses assistive devices appropriately based on patient’s needs to ensure safe ambulation and transfers.
• Fits and instructs patients in the use and care of durable medical equipment as prescribed by the physician and accurately completes paperwork for billing.
• Provide coverage at other SBO locations as needed.
• Stay current in their respective field through reading professional literature and attending continuing education offerings, etc.
• Attend meetings and in-services as required.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Perform related work as required.
• Supervise and review physical therapy assistant treatments and documentation. Co-signs and submit fees slip accurately and in a timely manner.

• Ability to communicate clearly in person and on the phone.
• Ability to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, customers, families, therapists, physicians, other team members in the company.
• Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Navigate and comprehension of computer software systems in an office setting, prefer 50wpm typing skill.

Physical/Mental Demands

• Requires range motion within normal limits for spine and all extremities.
• Requires prolonged sitting, standing and walking, as well as frequent forward bending and kneeling. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform patient transfers safely.
• Requires the ability to perform a variety of therapeutic exercises, joint mobilizations and manual resistance for strength testing and training.

Environmental/Working Conditions

• Combination of office and treatment areas.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to a clinic setting.
• Exposure to electrical equipment and cleaning solutions. Frequent contact with staff, patients and visitors.
• Work may be stressful at times. Interactions with others are constant and interruptive.

Qualifications

Education: B.S., M.S., or Ph.D in an accredited physical therapy program. Registered as a physical therapist and licensed in the state of Indiana.

Experience: Minimum of two years physical therapy experience preferred. New graduates are considered.
