Job description

A physical therapist is responsible for the evaluation, comprehensive treatment planning, and implementation of treatment for patients with medical, surgical, neurological, cardiopulmonary, or functional disorders.

New grads with acute care experience or clinical affiliation exposure encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Provides supervision for Physical Therapy Assistants, PMR technicians, students, and volunteers as required.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly working environment for patients and staff.
  • Adheres to the code of ethics of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Practice Act of the Commonwealth of PA.
  • Develops a comprehensive plan of care and provides treatment with appropriate and effective techniques to achieve established goals with an emphasis on functional status.
  • Assumes accountability for managing the delivery of patient care.
  • Interprets and utilizes clinical data in the treatment plan.
  • Prioritizes and organizes work assignments and adjusts priorities based on changing situations.
  • Consistently assesses and modifies approach, communication, care, activities, etc. to reflect the needs of patients based on age, cultural diversity, and developmental level.
  • Acts as a patient advocate and upholds patients’ rights.
  • Participates in program development activities, as assigned, and under the direction of the Lead/Manager.
  • Performs as a Clinical instructor when necessary.
  • Confers with physicians and team members regarding changes in the treatment plan as needed.
  • Collaborates with patients and significant others when establishing goals and treatment plans.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of other healthcare team members.
  • Incorporates education into daily patient activity and individualizes the educational plan based on the patient's needs.
  • Participates in continuing education to stay abreast of new research and to fulfill credentialing requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Current State PT license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Wheelchair seating recommendation experience is a plus.
