IHA is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist for our outpatient clinic in Fort Lauderdale. This is a part-time, per diem role offering true 1:1 patient care in a setting that combines neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation.

You will assess and treat patients with stroke, balance disorders, spinal issues, and post-surgical needs while developing individualized care plans and educating families. Licensure in Florida and BLS certification are required; new grads welcome.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy is required.
  • Licensed Physical Therapist in Florida.
  • BLS/HCP certification required.
  • One year as a registered physical therapist in an acute care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one outpatient physical therapy to patients with neurological and orthopedic diagnoses.
  • Evaluate and treat conditions such as stroke, balance disorders, spine dysfunction, and postoperative cases.
  • Develop individualized care plans based on goals and functional needs.
  • Deliver interventions including therapeutic exercise, gait training, manual therapy, and neuromuscular re-education.
  • Educate patients and families on home programs and safety.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and collaborate with referring physicians.

Description

Assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and decrease or prevent deformity of patients suffering from disease or injury. Must be familiar with government regulations for PT practice in an outpatient setting and demonstrate an understanding of how these rules pertain to managing patient care, specifically for the OP Therapy Cap and Claims-Based Outcomes Reporting (i.e. G codes). Flexibility in working in several clinical locations (i.e. hospital-based clinical setting and satellite clinics in the community)

Tasks Include
  • Administer manual exercises, massage and/or traction to help relieve pain, increase the patient's strength, and decrease or prevent deformity and crippling.
  • Discharge patient from physical therapy when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide for appropriate followup care or referrals.
  • Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Identify and document goals, anticipated progress and plans for reevaluation.
  • Inform the patient when diagnosis reveals findings outside their scope and refer to an appropriate practitioner.
  • Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
  • Plan, prepare and carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
  • Record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or enter information into computer.
  • Review physician's referral and patient's medical records to help determine diagnosis and physical therapy treatment required.
  • This is a PER DIEM position on day shift with NO benefits.
Education

Job Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy is required.

About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist to join our outpatient clinic specializing in both neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation. Our model is built on true 1:1 patient care, allowing clinicians to provide high-quality, individualized treatment without the pressure of high-volume scheduling.

This position is ideal for PTs who are passionate about complex cases, collaborative care, and evidence-based practice.

What You'll Do
  • Provide one-on-one outpatient physical therapy to patients with a mix of neurological and orthopedic diagnoses.
  • Evaluate and treat patients with conditions such as stroke, TBI, Parkinson's disease, balance/vestibular disorders, postoperative orthopedic cases, sports injuries, spine dysfunction, and chronic pain.
  • Develop individualized plans of care based on patient goals, functional needs, and clinical findings.
  • Deliver skilled interventions including therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, gait training, manual therapy, balance retraining, and task-specific motor learning.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, safety, and long-term wellness strategies.
  • Communicate and collaborate with referring providers, interdisciplinary team members, and families.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation to support high-quality continuity of care.
  • Collaborate with referring physicians and fellow rehab professionals.

Skills, Knowledge, Education And Experience
  • Licensed in the State of Florida as a Physical Therapist.
  • B.S. degree or higher in Physical Therapy.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support for HealthCare Provider (BLS/HCP) certification required.
  • One year as a registered physical therapist in an acute care facility and program development preferred.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Interpersonal communication skills in a team or interdisciplinary work situation.
  • Knowledge of personal computers
