Our work focuses on creating meaningful connections with each of our participants to help them move forward.

We foster each individual’s journey by creating communities of health within the organizations we serve – so that everyone is supported.

As an employee of HealthFitness you will enjoy a variety of health and financial benefits and receive competitive pay.

We provide personal and professional support, training and development and flexible employment opportunities.

About the role

Join a unique physical therapy practice environment where you can focus on what matters most: helping people move better, feel better, and stay active.

Located within a corporate fitness and wellness center, this role blends outpatient orthopedic care, injury prevention, wellness, and employee health in a setting that prioritizes outcomes over volume.

Unlike traditional clinic environments, this position offers the opportunity to provide individualized one-on-one care with flexible scheduling, and significant clinical autonomy.

As a direct access physical therapist, you will evaluate and treat employees with musculoskeletal conditions while partnering with fitness, wellness, and occupational health professionals to support overall workforce health.

This per diem position typically supports 20-30 hours per week and is ideal for a clinician seeking flexibility, work-life balance, and the opportunity to practice at the top of their license in a collaborative, prevention-focused environment.

Why Physical Therapists Love This Role
  • One-on-one patient care without productivity quotas.
  • Flexible scheduling with consistent weekly hours.
  • High degree of clinical autonomy and independent decision-making.
  • Direct access practice model.
  • Opportunity to combine treatment, prevention, wellness, and movement optimization.
  • Corporate fitness center environment with engaged motivated participants.
  • Ability to build lasting relationships and have a measurable impact on employee health.

Responsible for coordinating and delivering early intervention services with the overall focus being prevention of work-related injuries. Services will require PT to triage mild injuries and provide education and interventions within scope of position and deemed appropriate within client and OSHA guidelines.

Key Accountabilities
  • Supports the development and implementation of the yearly strategic business plan for the results-focused Injury Prevention program.
  • Coordinates the delivery of the Injury Prevention program throughout the client site(s) in collaboration with the client’s multi-disciplinary stakeholders (e.g., Medical, Safety, HR/Benefits, Management, Unions).
  • Interfaces with HealthFitness leadership, company management, and peripheral departments, as appropriate to assess client needs and identify HealthFitness programming solutions.
  • Participates in formal semi-annual performance appraisals and initiates formal corrective action process, as necessary.
  • Leads individual worksite assessments, root cause analysis, body mechanic coaching and well-being education.
  • Provide early intervention services for employees.
  • Collect program data to support the program; manage and reports data for IPT services.
  • Regular communication with Corporate Support (i.e., IP&T, CSE) for ongoing strategy, success of program, and service delivery review.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned.
Education and Experience
  • B.S., M.S or higher degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Current Physical therapy licensure in New Jersey.
  • Current Adult CPR/AED/First Aid certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, National Safety Institute, or American Safety & Health Institute required by start date. (Note: certification must have an in-person component and not 100% online/OSHA compliant).
  • 2+ years’ experience in prevention and treatment and rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries and illnesses, ergonomic assessments/risk identification; injury prevention education and training; and wellness programs.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Functional Movement Analysis and implementation of corrective interventions.
  • Demonstrated leadership, written and verbal communication skills, as well as the capability and broad-based interests to effectively deliver physical therapy treatment, prevention, and wellness services.
  • Strong people skills, a positive attitude and computer software skills sufficient to manage and operate participant management programs and databases.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
  • Proven ability to lead a team towards collective goals and strategy.
  • Proven ability to collaborate, integrate, and partner with multidisciplinary teams/departments.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
  • Ability to effectively work independently or as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering orthopedic and musculoskeletal physical therapy services in an outpatient, occupational health, sports medicine, or wellness-focused setting.
  • Strong clinical reasoning skills with the ability to independently manage a diverse caseload in an autonomous practice environment.
  • Experience developing individualized exercise and rehabilitation programs designed to improve functional outcomes and support return to work activities.
