Job description

We are seeking experienced Physical Therapists (PTs) and/or Occupational Therapists (OTs) for 13-week travel assignments in Alturas, California.

These positions are ideal for rehabilitation professionals with acute-care experience who can independently evaluate patients, develop individualized treatment plans, provide therapeutic interventions, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other rehabilitation professionals.

Candidates should have strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, rehabilitation techniques, infection-control practices, and safe patient mobility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients' physical, functional, mobility, or activities-of-daily-living limitations.
  • Develop individualized rehabilitation treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient goals.
  • Provide evidence-based therapy interventions.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans when appropriate.
  • Help patients improve mobility, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, and functional independence.
  • Assist patients recovering from illness, injury, surgery, or other medical conditions.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, safety techniques, home exercises, and rehabilitation goals.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and discharge planning.
  • Recommend appropriate assistive devices, adaptive equipment, or mobility aids.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Follow infection-prevention, patient-safety, and rehabilitation standards.
  • Protect confidential patient information and maintain professional standards at all times.
  • Manage assigned caseload efficiently while maintaining high-quality patient care.
Physical Therapist Responsibilities
  • Performing comprehensive mobility and musculoskeletal assessments.
  • Evaluating strength, balance, gait, range of motion, endurance, and functional mobility.
  • Providing therapeutic exercise and mobility training.
  • Performing gait and transfer training.
  • Providing balance and fall-prevention interventions.
  • Using appropriate physical therapy modalities and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Developing individualized home exercise programs.
  • Recommending mobility devices and equipment.
  • Supporting postoperative and medically complex patient rehabilitation.
Occupational Therapist Responsibilities
  • Evaluating patients' ability to perform activities of daily living.
  • Providing interventions to improve functional independence.
  • Training patients in dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, and other daily activities.
  • Evaluating upper-extremity function, coordination, strength, and fine-motor abilities.
  • Recommending adaptive equipment and compensatory strategies.
  • Providing energy-conservation and safety education.
  • Supporting patients with cognitive, neurological, orthopedic, or functional impairments.
  • Participating in discharge planning and home-safety recommendations.
Required Qualifications – Physical Therapist
  • Active California Physical Therapist license
  • Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program
  • Current BLS/BCLS certification
  • Strong knowledge of physical therapy modalities
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Knowledge of common disease processes and their impact on mobility and rehabilitation
  • Knowledge of infection-control and safety practices
  • Strong clinical assessment and treatment-planning skills
Required Qualifications – Occupational Therapist
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Active or eligible California Occupational Therapist license
  • Current BLS certification, preferably through the American Heart Association
  • Ability to satisfy applicable facility credentialing requirements
  • Strong understanding of functional rehabilitation and activities-of-daily-living training
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and treatment-planning skills
Experience
  • Previous acute-care or hospital rehabilitation experience
  • 3 or more years of therapy experience preferred, particularly for Physical Therapist candidates
  • Experience working with medically complex patients
  • Ability to manage a diverse rehabilitation caseload
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary clinical teams

Schedule Requirements
