Position: Physical Therapist
Location: Brighton, MA
Schedule: Per Diem

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Inpatient Rehabilitation Services, the Physical Therapist II conducts comprehensive assessments of inpatients with physical and functional deficits, plans and implements physical therapy treatments to promote mobility, reduce pain, restore function, prevent permanent disability and restore independence, using various treatment techniques. Collaborates with other disciplines to arrange for appropriate follow‑up care and facilitates a successful return to home and work environments. Provides student training according to departmental guidelines and participates in continuing education. Requires a minimum of three years’ experience as a licensed physical therapist, with preferred experience in acute care, especially ICU.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct physical therapy evaluation procedures according to professional and departmental guidelines, responding to all consults within 24 hours and completing evaluation and documentation within 24 hours of consult (IP).
  • Review patient records, gather necessary information, and obtain a physician’s order prior to assessment.
  • Select and administer evaluation procedures, adapting as necessary to accommodate patient needs.
  • Interpret evaluation results, develop an integrated diagnostic impression, and recommend treatment plans.
  • Perform re‑evaluations according to departmental policies and changes in patient status.
  • Educate patients and caregivers about evaluation findings and care recommendations.
  • Establish measurable short‑term and long‑term goals in collaboration with the patient and/or caregiver, modifying these as warranted.
  • Assess discharge needs, including insurance issues, equipment needs, follow‑up appointments, and community services, and communicate these needs to the care team.
  • Implement comprehensive individual and group treatment, demonstrating clinical competence and problem‑solving skills.
  • Recommend and/or issue appropriate assistive devices or durable medical equipment, ensuring proper fitting and patient instruction.
  • Maintain a therapeutic relationship with all patients, engaging them in treatment and providing reinforcement and support.
  • Adhere to diagnosis‑related precautions and handle hazardous situations with good judgment, seeking assistance when needed.
  • Monitor clinical supplies, request replacements timely, and maintain departmental standards.
  • Complete documentation accurately, thoroughly, and timely according to department standards.
  • Achieve area‑specific productivity standards at least 95% of the time, identifying problems and making adjustments to meet targets.
  • Participate in peer review, completing forms thoroughly and providing constructive feedback.
  • Complete mandatory requirements such as PPD, competencies, safety/infection control tests, CPR, and license renewal within given time frames.
  • Show evidence of ongoing professional growth, staying current with advances in physical therapy treatments and techniques.
  • Assist in developing and evaluating physical therapy programs, contributing to quality improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals to provide high‑quality patient care and serve as a clinical resource on assigned floors.
  • Participate in department meetings, take on additional assignments, and provide evidence‑based in‑service annually.
  • Supervise physical therapy students, providing training, feedback, and performance evaluations.
Job Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Current Commonwealth of Massachusetts license; CPR certification; APTA and MCAPTA membership preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum three years’ experience as a licensed PT; at least one year in acute care, preferably ICU.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $75,500.00 – $109,500.00 (based on minimum qualifications). Total compensation includes medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, discretionary bonuses, merit increases, flexible spending accounts, 403(b) savings matches, paid time off, and career advancement opportunities.
